Stay Safe With These Tips

Sauna Safety with
Other Fold sauna co.

The sauna offers space to slow down and reconnect. Please review the guidance below to ensure your time in the heat is safe, respectful, and enjoyable for you and others.

  • If you are booking on behalf of a group, you are responsible for ensuring all participants are aware of the terms and conditions, complete a waiver, and follow safe sauna practices.

  • Everyone who uses the sauna does so at their own risk.

  • Our saunas are set within natural environments. Ground may be uneven or wet, so please move slowly and with care.

  • The sauna must not be used if you have high or low blood pressure, heart or circulatory conditions, epilepsy, diabetes, are pregnant, or are prone to dizziness or fainting.

  • If you have any concerns about sauna use — including medical conditions, underlying health issues, pregnancy, or the use of prescription medication — we strongly recommend consulting your GP before making a booking.

Medical Safety:

Please seek medical advice before coming if any of the following apply:

  • You are taking regular prescription or over-the-counter medication.

  • You are pregnant or think you might be. (Many people choose to avoid sauna use during the first trimester.)

  • You have any cardiovascular conditions or take medication for blood pressure.

  • You have a pacemaker or defibrillator.

  • You have severe allergies.

  • You have experienced a heart attack within the last six months.

  • You have a recent joint injury, or joints that are chronically swollen.

  • You have metal pins, rods, artificial joints, or other surgical implants.

  • You have any chronic or underlying medical condition.

Other Fold Sauna Co. cannot accept responsibility for customers with the above conditions or in the above situations.

Sauna etiquette and safe behaviour must be always adhered to.
This includes:

Dress code:

  • Swimwear must be worn during all our sauna sessions, private or communal saunas.

  • Removing shoes / sandals / flip-flops prior to entering the sauna.

  • To prevent burning, jewellery and metals should be removed before entering the sauna.

In the sauna:

Exposure to hot equipment, slippery surfaces, hot & cold temperatures is done so at your own risk.

  • Enter and leave the sauna slowly and mindfully, taking care of yourself and others.

  • Keep doorways and access points clear so everyone can move in and out safely when needed.

  • Always sit on a clean towel, for comfort and hygiene.

  • Allow your body to move in cycles: 15–20 minutes in the heat, followed by time outside to cool down with fresh air, a shower, or a cold plunge.

  • Please don’t touch the stove, stove guard, or rocks — they are extremely hot. The sauna attendant will take care of the fire.

  • Alcohol and smoking are not part of the sauna ritual and are not permitted.

  • When adding water to the stones, pour slowly and gently.

  • A little water goes a long way — too much will reduce the heat.

  • Only use the provided sauna water on the stones. Nothing else should be poured onto the rocks.

  • Please don’t use personal products, soaps, scrubs, or oils in the sauna. Only products provided by Other Fold Sauna Co. are allowed.

Your belongings:

  • Other Fold Sauna Co. takes no responsibility for the damage or loss of customers property.

  • We offer areas to place your belongings, please do not bring any valuables.

Cold plunges:

All persons using a body of water as a ‘cold plunge’ do so at their own risk.

General information:

  • For insurance reasons, the sauna is reserved for guests aged 16 and over.

  • Entry may be refused if someone appears intoxicated or if their presence could compromise the safety or wellbeing of others.

  • This sauna is a shared ritual space. If someone’s behaviour disrupts your experience, we encourage a calm, respectful conversation to restore a mutually comfortable atmosphere.

  • Anyone acting outside the terms of use may be asked to leave, for their own safety and the safety of the group.

  • Sauna use is not recommended within 48 hours of applying fake tan or home hair dye.

  • This is a moment to unplug and arrive fully. Please keep screens away unless truly necessary.

  • Honour privacy. Please don’t take photos without first asking for consent.

  • Consent is part of the ritual. Check in before offering advice, starting conversations, or adjusting anything in the space.

  • Keep voices soft and movements gentle, allowing the heat and quiet to do their work.

  • Leave the space as you found it — take your belongings, clear your rubbish, and help preserve the calm and beauty of the sauna.
